This course will allow learners to become confident in two techniques and produce a cushion cover. The course will also discuss the historical context of the craft and the importance of colour and texture when planning a project. Learners will require: 1. WEA course: Goldwork Embroidery  Ref: C3522783

This course will introduce you to the needlecraft skill of Gold work Embroidery used in ecclesiastical, military and courtly clothes. You will learn how to prepare silk for embroidery and work a small sampler using some of the metal threads inspired by the museum’s embroidered items. It will also look at some of the embroidered items held at the Somerset Heritage Centre.
