Upton House is having a 3 year project called 'Made to Measure' from when in 1927 Lord and Lady Bearsted set about designing their country House.

I was asked by Zoe Knott, Retail Manager of the National Trust property Upton House, to produce an embroidery kit based on a design that she had created. Beaded embroidery was an important part of the 1920's so one of the designs had to incorporate beads.

The kits went on sale in August and can only be purchased from Upton House.

A variety of stitches and threads are used including chain stitch, padded satin stitch, long and short stitch.  Threads are Perle and stranded cotton.  Beads are 2.2mm in size.  The kits contain everything including a beading needle for the beaded kit.  The fabric is Linen with the design printed on it so all you need is a 6-7" embroidery hoop.

Below are the two images of the completed embroideries that the kits will make.
